While the dining table is getting it’s first use on Thanksgiving 2018, after dinner I started my next project. In 2014 I built a toy chest for my niece Mikayla and this year I am building one for her little brother, Greyson. It will be of similar construction. I used floating tenons and floating glued up panels for the first toy chest which worked very well.
For the second chest I may try something different and use dowels for the joinery and solid panels. It will likely still use clear water-based acrylic for the top and milk paint for the base, probably blue, Today I got the top of the chest glued up and used a card scraper to clean up the glue line and smooth out the surface.
